Burial
Our Funeral Director will assist families to tailor a funeral service that suits personal, cultural, or religious requirements.
Either in the home or by telephone, Barry will take note of wishes and provide advice about funeral arrangements. He will work with the minister of religion or celebrant so that your loved one is farewelled in a way that is meaningful.
Things that might be discussed include:
- Requirements and choice of a coffin or casket
- Planning the format of the service, e.g. music, readings, speakers
- Advice on the length of time set aside for the funeral service
- Whether candles, flowers or other personal touches are required
- Arrangements for home visits prior to the funeral service
For all burial services on Thursday Island, Barry can make the necessary arrangements for the burial to take place in the Thursday Island cemetery. For other burial sites Barry can assist families with the relevant authorities.
Cremation
WIFS does not have a crematorium facility on Thursday Island.
However, we coordinate with southern funeral directors to provide a cremation service if you wish for you and your families, to make things a little easier during sorry time.
We can also assist you with a selection of urns.
